Volunteering

Help us enable teachers and students in Indianapolis to achieve greatness.

Our Volunteer Vision

Teachers’ Treasures believes that volunteers are vital to the success of our teachers and our mission of providing the tools students need to be successful academically and personally.

We believe volunteers bring optimism, customer service, create positive energy, and share diverse backgrounds and experiences that make our mission successful and our organization stronger. Volunteers create an enhanced experience for our teachers.

We strive to create an environment where volunteers:

  • Contribute in meaningful ways to teacher and student success.

  • Reflect the diverse communities they come from.

  • Are valued for their unique abilities and experiences.

  • Are trained, encouraged, and supported in their work.

  • Have the opportunity to learn about Marion County’s education system and the realities of being a teacher in today’s world.

  • Are empowered to advocate for education and teachers in their communities.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

  • Volunteers will check teachers in and out, stock shelves, and help teachers from Marion County shop for vital school supplies. Located at 5525 W. 34th Street, this is perfect for anyone who lives on the West side of the city.

  • Engage with our teachers and help them get checked-in and out during shopping hours. During this shift you will also be assisting with daily store maintenance including bundling product, cleaning, and organizing. Store assistant hours are Monday-Thursday from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm and one Saturday a month from 8:00 am-12:00 pm.

  • Is your team looking to step outside of your office and give back to the community? Host your team building day with Teachers' Treasures. We are always looking for corporate and company groups to come in and lend a hand. Projects include assembling stuffed backpacks, sorting books, stocking shelves, creating hygiene kits, cleaning, sorting donations, and more. Please fill out this quick survey to allow us to better partner with your group!

  • Lend a hand at the tastiest event around on March 18th, 2023! Each year, Teachers' Treasures hosts over 1,000 runners, walkers, and donut lovers. Volunteers help pass out donuts, register runners, direct participants on the course, and more. Interested in helping out? Fill out this interest form and we will contact you with an official sign up in January.

  • Volunteer to shop provides teachers with an opportunity to earn additional shopping opportunities to Teachers' Treasures. 2 hours of volunteer hours equals one shopping trip. Click here to learn more about VTS.

  • Throughout the year, Teachers' Treasures will be hitting the road to bring product to select schools around Indianapolis. Times and location will vary. If you haven't volunteered with us before, we will set up a quick training session before your MOP volunteer shift.

  • Are you or someone you know participating in a life or job skills training program? Please reach out to us! We have a range of tasks and projects for volunteers of all abilities and interests. We currently work with Little Star, Noble Inc., and Rise Learning Center, as well as programs within Arsenal Tech and Ben Davis. Email Hanna to discuss if Teachers' Treasures would be a good fit!

  • Do you have a group of 15 or more volunteers? Throughout the year, we schedule large project opportunities that are able to accommodate big teams wanting to give back. Please reach out to Hanna to get started. Since times and dates vary based upon our needs, we will contact you as soon as projects are scheduled.
