A Transformative Gift
In 2021, Teachers' Treasures experienced a remarkable turn of events that left the entire team both grateful and astonished. We received an unexpected phone call from attorney Dwayne Isaacs, representing the estate of the late Terence Kahn, a man previously unknown to us.
Mr. Kahn, known for his frugal lifestyle, had quietly accumulated a significant fortune before his passing. To our delight, his estate generously offered a substantial donation of $1.6 million dollars to support our mission and create our first-ever endowment fund.
Over the course of the past year, Teachers' Treasures and numerous other local nonprofits have received similar calls from Mr. Isaacs, as he disburses funds from Kahn's estate without the need for an extensive application process. The impact of this unexpected gift has been tremendous, allowing us to further our efforts in providing essential school supplies to teachers and students in need.
We are truly grateful to Mr. Kahn, whose wealth surpassed $13 million, a fact even his own attorney and executor were unaware of until after his passing. His legacy of philanthropy will undoubtedly make a lasting difference in our community and the lives of countless educators and students we serve.
